01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
On a street near Monzen-Nakacho Station, MARCO is a casual Italian restaurant where natural light filters through the glass frontage and the food is satisfying without being formal. There are counter and table seats, making it a comfortable choice for a solo lunch or a meal with friends.
Slow-cooked Bolognese lasagne and fish that changes daily
One standout is the lasagne, layered with Bolognese made from minced pork and beef simmered for hours in tomato sauce, along with béchamel. Rich, savoury meat and mellow white sauce come together in distinct layers, finished with the fragrance and comforting warmth of a freshly baked dish. Another signature is the fish of the day: seasonal fish sourced directly from the market, prepared differently each day and served with roasted vegetables.
The focaccia served alongside the dishes is baked in-house every day. It is also a popular part of the lunch set, which comes with unlimited refills. Lunch offers familiar meat dishes beyond the Italian staples, too, including Mayo Chicken and Chicken Nanban, both served with flavours that pair well with rice.
Dinner with wine and small plates
At dinner, the selection of small plates includes the day's carpaccio, prosciutto and caprese with buffalo mozzarella—good companions for a glass of wine. Drinks range from beer and highballs to cocktails such as a Mimosa made with spumante and an Aperol Spritz. Whether you're settling in for dinner or stopping by for a lighter drink, there is plenty to choose from. The restaurant is often busy at lunchtime and in the evening, so booking ahead is a good idea if you want to secure a table and take your time.
